Sydney's graduation photo session took place in the easy bloom of North Carolina spring. We met at Davidson College and then shifted to Abersham Park five minutes down the road, a hidden gem I found while scouting for tall grass— the element Sydney was most excited about. It turned out to be the perfect setting. Abersham's wild green growth gave us that breezy, boho look while still feeling elevated. Sydney brought several outfit changes, each one adding its own flavor to the gallery—from classic grad elegance to more relaxed, editorial-inspired looks. I left feeling truly inspired by the golden-hour light that fell perfectly across Sydney's hair and face, highlighting her features so beautifully.
Sydney is heading to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall—my own alma mater—which added a layer of pride and connection to this shoot. Seeing her excitement and confidence, I was reminded of my own college days and how meaningful this transition can be. Capturing that in images—both the anticipation and the reflection—was a privilege. And it's moments like this that make being a senior portrait photographer in Charlotte, NC such a fulfilling creative path.
